Jedd Gyorko, second baseman of the San Diego Padres, had to be removed from the team’s starting lineup due to plantar fasciitisin his left foot. During the Padres’game against the Chicago White Sox last May, Gyorko claimed to be experiencing foot pain. “It progressively got worse from there,” he said. The discomfort eventually became so overwhelming that Gyorko was forced to receive a cortisone shot to relieve some of the pain. The athlete is very wary of the difficulty of foot injuries after watching former teammate, infielder Logan Forsythe, deal with them over the past few years.
During the team’s match-up against the Pittsburgh Pirates last week, Gyorko was replaced by Triple-A player Jace Peterson. The Padres are currently considering placing Gyorko on the disabled list to give him the time he needs to recover from his condition.

- Ultrasound-guided technique with steroid injections into the plantar fascia. This is from a relatively smaller new study but shown to be effective in most cases treated
- Conservative Measures- ice packs, stretching exercises, orthotic devices, physical therapy and/or anti-inflammatory medication
