Forty female students from South Korea’s Hanseo University participated in a study that had them wear high heels to class over four years. Findings showed that while wearing heels strengthened ankle muscles, over time it weakened them. To protect against injuries in heels, be sure to practice walking in them and to stand up and down on your toes to strengthen the calves. To give your feet a rest, change into flats.
